While more than 85% of a child’s core brain structure is formed by the age of 5, Vermont’s investments in early learning accounts for less than 1.4% of general fund expenditures.
What we do
Voices addresses the full spectrum of child, youth and family issues – from child care and access to health care coverage for children and youth to juvenile justice and child welfare. Voices for Vermont’s Children works for children and youth with:
- Advocacy during the Vermont Legislative session
- Grass roots organizing and advocacy training in local communities
- Crucial information, advocacy updates, special reports and fact sheets on issues and policy important to children and youth
- Workshops and courses on public education and advocacy in local communities
- Publication of Vermont KIDS COUNT and other child well-being reports
