Vermont children continue to be exposed to lead and there is no safe level of lead. Young children are particularly vulnerable to lead as it has permanent effects on their developing brains. The primary source of lead exposure is lead-based paint in pre-1978 housing and surrounding soil.

Children and families will have access to quality physical and mental health services that support and sustain their well-being. Families, schools and communities will work to protect children from injury or harm.
